Instant Vegan Mini Rosogollas

This is something that just clicked when my daughter and I were eating Soy chunks.

Rosogolla is a Bengali (Indian) Sweet made with milk.
I don't know if this can be made with Soy milk since I am not sure if that can be curdled.

So here is an instant recipe for 4 people
Ingredients:
1. Take ~20 Soy chunks (Can get them loose or you can buy Nutrela brand). Select some what roundish shapes.
2. Soy Milk : 2-4 cups
3. Sugar: 3-4 tea spoons
4. Milk masala or (can take a few almonds & pistachios, grind them and mix with some Kesar/Saffron)

Recipe:
Bring milk to boil with the Soy chunks and Sugar. Boil for a 4-5 minutes till the soy chunks are soft.
If you want mini rosgollas use 2 cups of milk if you want them with milk then use 4.
Without milk: Remove the soy chunks and let it cool. Prepare a sugary syrup by boiling water with sugar. Add the rosogollas to this sugary syrup.
With Milk: Continue boiling the 4 cups of milk till it is a little thicker. Let it cool. And keep it in fridge.
Add the milk masal on top before serving.

Let me know what you think of the recipe.

Simple ukali: a spicy hot drink

Procedure is quite simple, its like masala tea without tea!
Take 1 cup water, add fresh ginger and chai masala. Bring to boil.
Add 1/2 cup milk and sugar to taste. Bring to boil again and drink it hot.

instant baklava

Looking at khari (puffed biscuit) once I got the idea why not make baklava out of it.

Very simple: Split the khari into multiple thin layers carefully so as not to break them
Spread honey on them (to make it sweet enough, but not very sweet)
Grind a few badam (almonds) and sprinkle on top.
You can also add cardamom (elaichi)
Instant delicous baklava ready.

lajaawaab on CMH road, indiranagar

We went there for a team lunch and happened to call just before starting if they could accomodate 15-18 people. They said yes, when we reached at 12:30 on tuesday afternoon there was no one.
So atleast I wasnt sure how the food would be, but a couple of people who had food there assured that it was indeed good. By the time we took the buffet and came back to our tables, the restaurant was almost completely packed!
The buffet was completely Indian so didn't have as much variety as multi cuisines restaurants.
But each item they had was pretty good.
Salad included potato salad and chana (black chick peas?) salad. Appetizers included a veg shik kabab and a cutlet. With a mint chutney both tasted yummy.
Main course consisted of a paneer gravy, mint potato, mushroom peas, and black daal (dal makhani). The paneer, mushroom and dal were pretty tasty.
Naan and Roti came to the table. Then there was veg pulao, plain rice and curd rice.
Meal was rounded off with desert which included fruits, icecream ,kheer and Jilebi.
While the rest was usual stuff, Jilebi's were a nice departure and were pretty good and warm.

All in all nice ambience, good food, quick service, valet parking. Price is a little on the higher side at Rs 250+taxes.

Indiranagar Adigas: Nice ambience, ok food

Was driving by BDA complex in Indiranagar and noticed Adigas. Thought of taking a quick bite but wife wanted to sit down and we were ushered onto the first floor. The ambience was pretty nice with nice big glass windows with a view of greenery and ample light. Perfect for lunch time.
Menu and water came promptly. Ordered Idli, Rava Masala and Masala dosa.
Idli was nice and soft. Chatni and sambhar were OK. Rava dosa was very crisp and pretty filling. Masala dosa was also crisp but could have done with a little less oil. Overall decent south indian food.
Were in mood to try some ice cream so ordered butter scotch and a cassata slab. Was having cassatta after a long time, the different flavors didn't come out that well but the nice sprinkling of cashews gave it a good feel. Butter scotch was a little sweet but then thats how it usually is.
Total bill excluding tips: Rs 154!

Overall: Decent south indian food with pretty nice ambience and reasonably priced.
